Risperdal Consta is a drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder. Some of the side effects can include difficulty breathing, swelling of the lips, tongue or face, uncontrollable movements of the tongue, face, arms, legs or lips, fever, sweating, confusion, irregular heart beat, and severe muscle stiffness. You should not drink any alcoholic beverage as it helps to increase dizziness and drowsiness. Risperdal Consta may increase the risk of heat stroke as well. Risperdal Consta is not for everyone. If you have developed diabetes, liver or kidney disease, epilepsy, breast cancer, heart attack or any other heart disease you must talk to your doctor about it. Risperdal Consta can be taken in two forms - pills or injections. The benefit of the injection is that it must be taken once every two weeks while the pills must be taken every day.
