Discrimination based on gender still takes place in some countries in the world and in some places women are treated as inferiors. Women are not allowed to talk, work, or vote in some countries. However, there are a lot of laws designed to make them part of our society and protect them from any kind of discrimination.

The United Nations is working very hard to provide and make those countries validate the human rights of women. It is a big issue that will probably take a lot of time to impose. Thankfully, in America and other westernized countries these laws already exist.

Discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation has received considerable attention in terms of the law. Complaints about this type of discrimination have grown in the last few years, but thanks to new legislation this trend will probably go down.

Employment discrimination based on your gender or sexual preference is another issue, and employers must focus just on the abilities of an individual to perform a job without considering whether this candidate is a woman or man.

Some companies keep the best organizational positions for men and it is very hard for a woman to become a manager or to be promoted. This is a type of discrimination based on gender. If the salaries or benefits are different for the same position because the gender is considered, it is discrimination as well.

Sexual harassment is also discrimination and it doesn’t matter if you are a woman or a man; we have human rights that support us to enable us to be treated equally and with respect. Nobody should be put in this kind of situation.
