Bathroom Furniture

Bathroom Furniture Related Information:

Life is hastily passing us by and that is all the more reason that people now really treasure some time to themselves. The bathroom is increasingly becoming such a retreat where people can relax and indulge in some down time. Thus we are seeing bathrooms with added luxuries such as a soaking tub, whirlpools, and maybe even an exercise area if the bathroom is big enough. Use of furniture in bathrooms is also on the rise. Bathroom Furniture, besides being highly functional, can also provide a touch of color and class to otherwise dull and drab or cold and sterile bathrooms.

Bathroom furniture is available in many different kinds; some of which are:

An Armoire: An armoire is a very flexible piece of furniture and can be used in most parts of the house including a bathroom. In a bathroom an armoire can be very useful to store towels, robes, slippers, and extra linen. It can also be used to keep extra supplies of soaps or detergents used in bathrooms. It could even hold your cosmetics and other grooming materials in the absence of a dressing table. An armoire can be made with different types of woods and paint finishes. You can even give it a desired look such as antique, chic, or traditional to go with the rest of your home décor.

Cabinets: Once used mostly in kitchens, cabinets are now finding place in bathrooms as well. The regular wall mounted medicine cabinets have evolved and are giving way to fancier and more mature designs for bathroom cabinets. Beautifully crafted, tall, narrow cabinets can be used near the sink area to provide storage for your tooth brushes, pastes and a horde of other bathroom knick knacks that you use daily. Mirrored cabinets can be used to enhance natural lighting in bathrooms. You could even make a set of cabinets under the sink countertop and effectively use else wasted space. If space permits, huge pantry like cabinets can be used in bathrooms to house your linen.

Dressing tables: A vanity and dressing area can be very handy in a bathroom. Instead of having all your cosmetics, manicure sets, pedicure supplies etc all over the place in your bathroom, a dressing table with its attached drawers can give you plenty of space to keep these items and also help to empty your countertop of such little items.

Closets: Regular closets as well as the walk-in type can be placed in bathrooms. Along with a dressing table, it gives you a nice little changing area so that you can get fully dressed in your bathroom itself.

Miscellaneous Bathroom Furniture: Small pieces of furniture such as a chair, bench, or a small chest can all be used in bathrooms to help provide a place to relax, some storage space, or just to make the bathroom feel more warm and colorful.

Whatever type of bathroom furniture you decide to get for your bathroom, it helps to keep a few things in mind namely:

Size: Bathroom furniture should be in proportion to the size of your bathroom. Do not buy a very big piece of furniture if your bathroom is small. Measure the space in the bathroom where you are going to put the furniture and then get pieces that fit in their designated spaces.

Materials: Water is an integral aspect of bathrooms and so your bathroom furniture should be selected accordingly. Don’t choose pieces which might get ruined by water. As far as possible try and get furniture which is waterproof. If using different kinds of wood make sure that it is alright to be used in bathroom furniture else get it treated to make it waterproof.

Quality: Always buy the best quality of bathroom furniture that you can afford. Good quality furniture is durable and will last you a long time.

Style: The furniture that you select for your bathroom should be in a style in keeping with the décor of the rest of the house. Just because it is bathroom furniture does not mean that you can vary from the basic theme for your home décor.

So the next time you want to spruce up a boring bathroom and don’t know how to go about doing it, try and use some bathroom furniture for it.
