Spring is a great time for gardens and gardeners, as this is when the perfect weather for planting and nurturing plant, shrubs and vegetation comes around. Spring is neither too cold nor too hot, so it provides the perfect temperatures and levels of sunshine for many plants to flourish.
The springtime is a great season in which to plant many beautiful flowers and bulbs. Annual flowering plants are very popular at this time of year, as they provide a cost effective solution to creating a colourful and fragrant garden that looks beautiful and feels totally relaxing. These plants are widely available through garden shops, farms and even stores, and they are easy to maintain. There is a range of annual flowering plants, often known as bedding plants, on the market so there is lots of choice and something to suit every taste.
When you buy your annual flowering plants, you should be aware that they are in pre-bloom form when they are sold. This means that you will have to take this in to account when you plant these flowers, as they will need the room to flourish and grow. You should also inspect the plants that you intend to buy carefully, checking for signs of insect damage, dying leaves or tangling at the roots, as this may indicate an unhealthy plant.
When you have purchased the plants of your choice you need to decide when to plant them. Remember, these plants are very young and will need to be exposed to the sunlight and weather conditions with caution. You should therefore choose a mild day on which to do your planting, so that the plants are not exposed to harsh sunlight, win or rain.
You need to start by digging a hole for each of your plants. This should be equal in depth to the dirt around the roots of the purchased plant. The hole should also be double the width of the dirt surrounding the plant. Once you have dug the appropriately sized hole, you should remove the plant from the pot and gently place it in to the hole. Fill the hole about fifty percent of the way with soil, and then fill the rest with water. Allow the water to soak in to the soil before filling the remainder of the hole with more soil. You can then add a fraction more water and pat the soil in to place around the plant.
You will also need to ensure that you provide a car programme for your plants to keep them in tip-top condition. They will need an inch or so of either fresh water or rainwater each week, so during the dry weather you may need to use your hosepipe, otherwise you can assess whether enough water has been distributed through rainfall. Many people decide to use insect control such as herbicides to protect the plants from destruction. And to alleviate the problem of emerging weeds, you can surround the base of the plants with mulch, which can be either organic or non-organic. Organic mulch includes materials such as bark, straw, leaves, grass clippings and pine needles. Non-organic mulch includes items such as manure, newspaper, aluminium foil, felt paper and sugarcane.
A beautiful garden can go a long way towards enhancing the enjoyment of your home life, as well as providing a relaxing environment and reducing stress. There’s nothing quite like sitting in your beautiful garden on a warm spring day, with a cold drink and a little music or a book. Or perhaps you could invite some friends or family over to sit outside and bask in the sunshine and gentle breezes. And as you look around you can really take pride in the beauty and radiance that your bedding plants provide in your garden.
