Free credit checks are available from all 3 of the major credit bureaus and they are connected to multiple websites and search engines, which allow you to get this free check. These websites offer the free check, but actually it can only be provided by either of the big 3 bureaus, Equifax, TransUnion or Experian. The other websites are mainly user for advertising and a chance at a free credit check is used to get customers to sign up for other services.

These credit checks are actually not free and are more of a bonus when signing up for other credit services or reports. A 30-day trial of credit reporting is usually a quick and cheap way to get a free credit check. You need to enter a valid credit card number and pay some sort of fee for the service in order to get the free credit check. Once you sign up for the service you can either renew it after a certain period of time or sign up for other services or reports.

You can get a free credit check when you sign up for one of the following:

  • Consumer fraud

So really the credit check is not fee, in order to receive it from a company you need to sign up for other services. The company will then quickly give you your free credit check with all details either online or via regular mail. It’s a cheap way to find out where you are with your credit and determine if there are any problems before applying for credit. The free credit score is not truly free, but is more of a bonus for purchasing other services from one of these 3 major credit bureaus.
