Mildred Harris was born on November 29th 1901 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Mildred was a child star from the age of 10. When she was 16 years old she married the first of her three husbands, Charles Chaplin. Being Mrs. Chaplin did create new film contracts for Mildred. One child was born from this marriage, Spencer Chaplin who only lived about three days.
It was rumored that directly following her split with Chaplin she went into an affair with the Prince of Wales. Mildred continued to enjoy film success throughout the 1920s; by the 1930s her well of fortune had begun to dry up.
Amongst her most memorable roles was her part in the 1936 film, “The Three Stooges” Amongst Mildred’s problems was drinking, it would affect her career as well as her health. She would only enjoy moderate success after her 1936 part in the “The Three Stooges.” Mildred was able to work through the first part of the 1940s only because of the kindness of a former director – friend.
Mildred died of pneumonia on July 20th 1944.
