Your Zodiac Sign

Did you know that the zodiac is divided into 12 signs, each one being 30 degrees long? The cycle of zodiac signs starts with Aries, which begins at the point where the Sun is on the first day of spring. These 30 degree sections of the sky are also blocks of space, not time. Zodiac signs are often confused in the popular mind with "sun signs". Because our calendar’s designed to mimic the motions of the Sun around the zodiac, the Sun is in Aries at nearly the same time period each year. In this way there are 12 zodiac signs and months. The motions of the other planets through the zodiac signs can be quite irregular, compared to the Sun's motion. Here are some of the characteristics for each of the signs.

Aries: You have an uninhibited tendency to express your inner nature; you like activity that is self-motivated, you’re unaffected by others; you enjoy new beginnings and the start of new cycles, like birth; you’re enthusiastic and lively, aggressive, willful, and powerful.

Taurus: You keep your feet on the ground, focus and concentrate energy, give it concrete expression; you’re practical, provide stamina and assurance; you’re slow, steady, methodical, fertile, productive, unreflective, and content to simply be.

Gemini: You’re curious, clever, skillful, communicative, good at making connections with surroundings, at trying to "figure things out"; the first display of intelligence by embodied spirit. You are ruled by rationality and need great mental stimulation.

Cancer: You’re nurturing, supportive, emotional; you keep close to your roots, source, ground of your being; you’ve interests in the unconscious, feelings, emotion; the Great Mother, Universal Womb; spirit's first emotional attachments to the world.

Leo: You are the spirit entering the individual person; your ego develops, setting your self apart from the rest of the world, becoming your own person; you are self-expressive, being true to your inner nature, acting from the heart, dawning awareness.

Virgo: You’re the embodiment of the individual in the world, having problems of adjustment management with the world and others, interested in the perfection of your approach to life and the development of mundane skills with the ability to change.

Libra: Your spirit is individually entering into relationship with others, into partnership, into one-on-one relationships, meeting others as an equal, seeking out interdependency; encountering repressed parts of yourself through others and going beyond those boundaries.

Scorpio: You are transformative; you change, your ego dies, is reborn, you transcend, having intense emotional involvement with the process of personal growth and with the movement from individual certainties to the mysteries and limitations of life.

Sagittarius: Your spirit moves beyond the individual into the world at large, becoming a member of a wider society, wherein you experience things that lead to consciousness expansion, then being receptive to new points of view, wisdom and enlightenment.

Capricorn: Your spirit attempts to bring about the perfect society, to create heaven on earth, making practical, efficient connections with others on the physical plane; you’re ambitious, feel pride in accomplishments and are concerned with truth and reality.

Aquarius: Your spirit attempts to create ideal relationships and organizations based on freedom and cooperation between individuals, and is free-thinking, unorthodox and not shackled by outdated ideology.

Pisces: You surrender to the universe, to higher goals and sacrifice your ego; you’re compassion and empathetic, enjoying selfless work; seeing the unity of all things and the ends of cycles that form "seeds" for the next cycle of growth.
